S.err temperature control error

S.err is a thermocouple error meaning the temperature controller is not receiving a thermocouple connected signal.

The thermocouple is made of two separate different wires. Type J is one wire iron wire and one constatin wire. The different metals provide a different internal resistance.

Platen machines–S.err  The thermocouple goes from the temperature controller directly to the heater platen.  The thermocouple is broken, not connected to the controller, or the end ring terminal has one wire broken. The temperature controller input type setting could be set to something other than Type J.

Rotary machines–S.err The thermocouple goes from the temperature controller to the commutator to the thermowell thermocouple probe in the side of the heated drum.  The thermocouple between the controller to the commutator is broken, not connected to the controller, the thermocouple between the commutator, the brushes on the commutator are broken or worn, the brushes jumped track, and the thermowell probe is broken, or the thermowell thermocouple probe is damaged.  The temperature controller input type setting could be set to something other than Type J.
